Historian Bettany Hughes retraces the lives of three great thinkers whose ideas shaped the modern world: Karl Marx, Frederick Nietzsche, and Sigmund Freud.
To be honest, I DON'T LIKE IT. As a sociologist, I just put it up the first episode which is about Karl Marx also, before watching, I have some prejudices because of the topic based on the documentary. Normally it was produced by Netflix, England, and self-present is British. So, that also hard to look from the British view to communism besides she is a historian. Of course, historians may research Karl Marx but if you make a professional documentary at least you must have sociological and psychological reflection due to this kind of area which is interdisciplinary for that reason we have a contribution.
On the other hand, you can find in the documentary how was the life of Marx that I can say, if you like Marx or whether or not he was a big man. He impressed so many people all around the world. Sometimes I like him sometimes not. He is a really tough person, after all, owing to his thinkings may be so many people changed also the world is changed. Maybe when he wrote the Das Kapital it's not understandable by society but then, for instance, SSCB was founded, we lived with Lenin all things result of Marx's works directly or indirectly. They are a three-man who are Friedrich Engels, Karl Marx, Max Feber that changed the flow of the world.
Normally, Marx was born in Germany and he came from the bourgeois class. His father sent to him some university but he couldn't discover himself. Even he was a teenager he was always thinking to create a difference in some events, some clubs in university with friends. The government was afraid of his thinkings so that
Germany deported him. He had applied asylum to Belgium. He was living in normal life. His private life was going on also, he always kept in touch with Engels. After that, he wrote the Communist Manifesto and he was deported from Belgium. He went to France. At the same time, his Manifesto created great influence. Also, in France, some workers started to protest thus, Marx moved to England but his life was terrible. While his wife was pregnant he slept another woman and he had a baby from that woman but as I understand this was quite normal at that time. Also, Engels helped with this bad situation. He said that the baby's father. Just for help to Marx also, Marx's wife didn't make any problem. At that time, Marx's life was very irregular. He was working all day sometimes he was just sleeping with daily clothes but also, Engels always helping him as his best friends.
I think Marx was a normal human but he had influence area on all things. For instance, Marx had some disease from skin also, he was feeling some pain. When we looked at the letter from Marx that he said sometimes I just wanting cut my skin with my razor blade. That's why he was already alienated to own body. After that, his alienation theory was born. I support this idea. Today's we are just alienated to own body and brain. Marx's capitalist idea was a bit different than the country used his ideas. His opinions never came true. He wrote the great book, called "Das Capital". It is a really big and long book and hard to understand. I just read some summary. I wish I could know German in order to understand all the sociologists. After that, Marx moved to Germany he liked walking with grandchildren. Also, Engels was paying the retired salary to him.
When we think of the thinker of him so we have to think at that time. For me Marx or others, they were a good sociologist also they are the father of Sociology. But I don't like that they seemed like a prophet. Even in the university department of sociology, we are just learning Marx, Weber, Hengels. For example, I am interested in the crime, even I am writing some articles, thesis about crime I have to tell first about Marx and others, the quotation should be gotten from them. Probably, If Marx lives in right now, all things would be different. Because the world is changing why we are instantly learning Marx. Of course, we have to learn this but I don't know always the same. The main point of Sociology just theory but I don't know they are a deep and different situation. This is just my opinion. I like all sociologist, I read their books and articles. Also, I desire to learn some language to get easily. But sometimes maybe we must criticize them so they are not a prophet. Why I am thinking this because so many people died from them political and social views.
About the document, it has 3 episode about Marx, Freud, and Nietzsche. But I will not watch the other, ı don't like it. If you want to make a documentary about Marx one episode not enough for this.

Öncelike size biraz MOAS'tan bahsetmek istiyorum. Catrambone ailesi tarafından 2013 yılında kurulan bir non-profit organizasyondur. 2014 Ağustos ayında ilk görevine başlamış ve böylece Akdeniz'de bir Arama ve Kurtarma operasyonu yürüten ilk sivil toplum örgütü olmuştur. MOAS, denizde üç yıl boyunca Orta Akdeniz ve Ege'de 40.000'den fazla çocuğu, kadını ve erkeği kurtardı ve yardım etmiştir. Bu ekibin çok güzel bir belgeseli var sizlerle onu paylaşmak istiyorum.
Öncelikle kendimize şunu sormalıyız, yılda kaç bin insan Avrupa'ya gitme pahasına canından oluyor?
Ufacık botların içinde yüzlerce insan, günlerce denizde kurtarılmayı bekliyor. Bu tam anlamıyla dünyanın rezilliğidir, ayıbıdır. İşin komik tarafı da bu insanları sivil toplum kuruluşları, parasıyla büyük gemi alıp bu sektöre dönüştüren insanlar kurtarıyor. Daha sonra da gemiler karaya yanaşınca devlet, polis vs. bekliyor. Nedense bir tane askeri ya da polis gemileri, helikopterler profosyonel olarak bu kurtarma operasyonlarna gitmiyor.

Bu insanların çoğu Afrika vb. ülkelerden geliyor, herkesin değişik hikayesi var. Ancak bu geliş yolu tam anlamıyla bir eziyet. Genelde Libya'ya gidiyorlar ve orda tam anlamıyla kaçakçılar bu insanların ruhunu satın alıyor birçoğunun da canını. İnsanları dövüyorlar, tecavüz ediyorlar tüm paralarını alıyorlar. Haftalar, aylar bazen de yıllar süren bu Libya sürecinden sonra o meşhur mavi teknelere ya da dayanıksız beyaz şişme botlarla günlerce süren deniz yolculukları başlıyor. İğne atsan düşmez, o derece kalabalık.. bebekler, kadınlar, hamileler, yaşılalar. Her türlü insan mevcut. Birçoğu için bu yol ölümle sonuçlanıyor. O teknelerde geriye sadece cansız bedenler kalıyor. Bu insanlar son dakika üzerlerine giydikleri kıyafetlerle, can yelekleri olmadan botlara binip yola çıkıyorlar. Kurtarıldıkları anda suratlarında oluşan o ifadeler için ansiklopedi yazılır. Karşılığında pek çoğu İtalya'ya giriş yapıyor. Onlar için bu en güzel an ama aslında maceraları da orada yeni başlıyor. AB tam anlamıyla çoğuna köpek çekip yıllarca bekletiyor ve oturum vermiyor vs vs vs.
Düşünün Afrika'da doğdunuz. Tam anlamıyla iptal bir hayatınız oldu. Genç yaşınızda bu kararı alıp ülkenizden kaçmayı düşünüyorsunuz. 20 yaşındasınız, evlisiniz. 1-2 yıl Afrika'da perişan bekleyip Libya'ya geçiyorsunuz. Ama karınız yok yeni bir bot görünüyor ve onun içinde de herkes çıktıktan sonra, karınızın cansız bedeninin yüzdüğünü görüyorsunuz. Sonra İtalya'ya gidiyorsunuz ya da ordan başka AB ülkesine. 2-3 yıl beklyiosunuz. Köpekten beter leş bir hayat, herkes sizi terörist olarak görüyor. En sonunda red ya da oturum. Söylenecek çok şey var, göçmen ve mülteciler. En cool alan. Akademi camiasında çalışanı çoktur, sonuç nedir yoktur, asla da olmaz. Şahsen ben de akademik olarak bu alanlarla ciddi ilgileniyorum. Gördüğüm ve hissettiğim kadarıyla sadece sizlere şunu söyleyebilirim. Bu işlerde yapılacak zirve iş kurtarma gemisinde çalışmaktır ki o da tam anlamıyla, bence dünyanın en kutsal mesleği. Bir günde 300 canın kurtarılmasına vesile olabilirsiniz. Onun dışında AB, BM vs kolpa! Gider araştımanı yaparsın, hatta kampları yerinden ziyaret edip bir güzel de şovunu yaparsın. Milyon eurolar hava da uçuşur. Gecenin sonunda uluslarası bürokrat kankilerinle beraber lüx otelinde şampanyanı içer aylık en az 5000€ maaş alırsın. Sonra kampta aylık 30€ alıp 10 kişi pisliğin içinde yaşayan asylum seekerin hayatına dokunduğunu sanarsın.
Bu göçmenlerin de hikayesi tam anlamıyla şudur, Afrika ve Orta Doğu diktatörlüğünden kaçıp Avrupa Birliği diktatörlüğüne sığınmalarıdır.
Belgeseli kalbiniz kaldırırsa izleyin ve oradaki insanlardan biri olacağınızı düşünerek izleyin. Bir gün herkes mülteci olabilir. Distopyalar, hayalinizdeki ütopyalar ile gerçeğe dönüşür, öyle kalırsınız. Ne olduğunuzu asla anlayamazsınız.
